Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of functional electrical stimulation(FES) on gait pattern of hemiplegic patients whit foot drop. Subject of this study was hemiplegic patients who had been hospitalized Rehabilitation Hospital. of six hemiplegic patients having foot drop who were treated with FES, Only the four who continued FES treatment for four weeks. Method o f gait pattern assessment used ink foot-print record. The finding were as follows: 1. The difference in gait pattern between before FES treatment and after showed working speed which increased from 10.9(#9.9)m/min to 13.4($8.0)m/min. but statistically insignificant; 2. Symmetry of the soundside incresed at after FES treatment for four weeks than before. but statistically insignificant. In conclusion, FES have appeared on the improvement of gait not only with the stimulator but also without it. For more improved gait pattern of hemiplegic patients, Long-term stimulation has been proposed.
