A Case Study Of Facilitation in pre and Postwalking in a Chiid with Ataxia Cerebral Palsy

Abstract

In this study, the client who has ataxia cerebral palsy was treated with balanced board and vestibular stimulator for stimulation of vestibular, weight bearing and weight shifting, using the cuffs weight, climbing up and down stair for the functional accomplishment, coordination of visual perception and motor control using parallel bar and strap, and facilitation of mutual interaction with environment. With this treatment, the client could get improvement of walking pattern. The client has come out with self-walking at home after 5½ months of could has done climbing up and down stairs after 10 ½ months of treatment. According to Gross Motor Function Mearsure(GMFM), 'lying and rolling', 'sitting', crawling and kneeling was improved to 10% from each 98.04%, 76.67%, 61.54%, 'standing' was improved to 84.62% from 17.95%, 'walking • running • jumping' was improved to 76.39% from 13.89%. Total gross motor function was improved to 92.20% from 53.62%.
