Abstract
In studying the effectiveness of Constraint Induced Movement Therapy(CIMT) for children with hemiplegia, in block removal there was a large variance in time with a maximum of 2' 45" to a minimum of 1' 02" • 1 ' 43" Speed of completion increased as the treatment advanced. At first, the majority of the pediatric patients were uneasy and not able to adapt well and as a result, time o f completion was long, however after repeated treatments, the patients adapted better and the time to completion was reduced to less than half. Al four of the patients showed balanced results, and especially one case showed movement almost twice as fast as other patients. However these results are not too reliable considering the restless nature o f the patient. Also, there were no noticed differences between sexes or between left and right hands, but there were differences in the effects of the treatment according to the individual illnesses. According to the above results, CIMT of partial paralysis patients was more difficult and complicated to administer to pediatric patients than to adult patients because of the short attention span and differences in personality of each child. However, the results of the treatment showed to be very good.
