Effects of the Paretic Palmar Contact Enhancement Program on Upper Limb Function andPostural Alignment in Stroke Patents

Abstract

Purpose This study was investigating the effects of the paretic palm contact enhancement program on upper limb function and postural alignment in individual with hemiplegia. Methods 26 subjects were randomly assigned. The intervention period was 8 weeks for 30 minutes 3times a week.  study group (n=13) applied paretic palmar contact enhancement program; control group (n=13) applied paretic conventional upper limb exercise program. For the evaluation of upper limb function, manual function test (MFT), Postural alignment was evaluated before and after the intervention of trunk alignment. Results A significant difference was arm motion and hand activity for the betweengroup comparison before and after intervention(p<.05), Significant difference in the amount of change in trunk length, trunk inclination, thoracic angle, kyphotic angle, lordotic angle(p<.05). Conclusion Paretic palmar contact enhancement program improved arm motion and hand activity, trunk alignment.
