A Literature Review of Mental Retardation and Developmental lntervention

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to collect basic data on the development of the mental retardation children for physical therapy program. It has been estimated that nearly 50% of people with mental retardation have at least on their impairment. Therefore physical therapists may be involved in the administration of test designed to assess the mental abilities of children, because many of these test focus on a children's sensorimotor developmental, such as accomplishment of motor developmental milestones or coordination of vision and hearing with body movement. The importance of family education and training, as well as team collaboration, is emphasized
