Abstract

Vision is considered to be one of our strongest sense. Through vision, we learn about the world around us and interact with environment. The immature visual system in preterm baby is vulnerable to hypoxia and ischemia. Periventricular leukomalacia affecting the optic radiation has now become the principal cause of visual impairment and dysfunction in children born prematurely. Cerebral palsy with periventricular leukomalacia has visual problems such as visual field defects, refractive errors, motility defect, and visual cognition disorder. Visual perceptual difficulties in children with cerebral palsy may interfere with particularly difficulty of high visual function such as visuospatial, visual perception. visual memory, and visual recognition. Moreover the function of activities of daily living, learning, and psychosocial skils may be affected also.
