Abstract
This study was aimed to compare the effects of gait training between 40% body weight reduction weight bearing and traditional gait training in ambulatory stroke patients. The ambulatory stroke patients for rehabilitation candidate were divided into two groups, one group was given with partial weight bearing gait training and another group was traditional gait training. In first group, gait training with 40% weight reduction was offered on treadmill with harness suspension system for four weeks. Another group was trained by traditional gait training method. Two groups were trained 30 minutes 3 times per week during four weeks. For estimation of ambulatory capacity, we used gait analysis. Gait analysis was assessed by Vicon 370 and linear parameters, kinematic data, and kinetic data were obtained. The results of treadmill gait training with 40% reduction weight bearing in ambulatory stroke patients were supplied more excellent and stable gait pattern because of the increased stride length and decreased knee valgus deformity of the affected limb as compared with traditional gait training. By and large, these findings indicated that treadmill gait training with partial weight bearing improves overground gait ability in ambulatory stroke patients
