Abstract
Background and Purpose The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of strengthening exercise on the postural muscles for patients with hemiplegia. Subjects and Methods Sixteen subjects with hemiplegia (mean 56.6±9.9 years) were recruited. Treatment outcomes were assessed with Timed Up and Go test ad 6MWT. Results After a 4-week training period, the mean time of TUG decreased significantly and 16% increased in 6MWT. Retraining gait in patients with hemiplegia while to promote the activity of anti-gravity muscles was supported resulted in better walking abilities. Conclusion This novel approach provides efficient approach for the therapy of gait disturbance in patients with hemiplegia.
