Abstract
Purpose The purpose of this study was to determine immediate effects of sensory stimulation to the affected foot on trunk movement in sitting position in patients after a stroke. Methods Gait group (GG) consisted of 6 subjects with hemiplegia and non-gait group (NGG) was composed of 6 subjects with hemiplegia after a stroke. The subjects in both groups were given an intervention only once for 30 minutes. Trunk Impairment Scale (TIS) and the Sensory test were used as assessment tools. Results TIS dynamic in GG and tactile sensation of dorsal, 1-toe and 5-toe in post-test between GG and NGG presented significant different. Conclusion Sensory stimulation to the affected foot influenced sensory perception itself as wel1 as trunk movement and this effect was more shown in patients with hemiplegia who can walk.
