Analysis of the Participation and ADL for Intellectual Disability According to Their Functional Levels

Abstract

Purpose This study was performed to search for correlation between functional level and participation of children with Intellectual disability by investigating the functional level through the use of the MACS and the CFCS and by figuring out participation level through questionnaire survey. Methods This study was performed, from July 20, 2016 to August 31, 2016, on 51 children with Intellectual disability ranging from 6 to 12 years, who are receiving rehabilitation therapy in the hospitals and community clinics in Chonnam and Gyeongnam province. The levels of function were assessed by using MACS and CFCS, and a questionnaire survey was conducted for participation of the participating children. Results The participation of ADL were significantly higher for those with functional level of MACS and CFCS(p<.05). the participation of IADL were significantly higher for those with functional level of CFCS(p<.05), but MACS showed no significant. Conclusion The finding may be used as specific considerations in planning efficient therapeutic strategies and in executing an actual treatment plan, further studies will be continued in this field.
