Abstract
Purpose The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of hip abductor strengthening training in patients with hypoxicischemic brain injury with freezing of gait (FOG). Methods The study was designed the singlesubject experimental design (ABA). The participant was 32 years old women who was diagnosed quadriplegia with hypoxicischemic brain injury. The intervention was performed hip abductor strengthening training based on the Bobath concept for 1 hour a session, for five weeks. The outcome was measured Angulometer for pelvic symmetricity, Biorescue for limit of stability (LOS), 10meter walk test and video analysis. Results The results showed that the participant improved the symmetricity of pelvic lateral height and weight bearing, LOS and gait speed than the baseline after intervention. It was also maintained during the regression process. Conclusion This study demonstrated hip abductor strengthening showed significant improvement in postural symmetricity, balance and gait speed in hypoxicischemic brain injured with FOG.
