Abstract
Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate of wireless functional electrical stimulation therapy device on the motor function, muscle strength, and gait of children with cerebral palsy. Methods The subject were 18 children with cerebral palsy who satisfied the criteria. They were assigned to a group receiving wireless functional electrical stimulation with the exercise program(the study group, n=9) and only the exercise program(the control group, n=9). After that, changes were observed with gross motor function, muscle strength and gait. Results As for the result of the gross motor function, there was a significant difference in the comparison between groups(p<0.05). As for the result of muscle strength, there was a significant difference in the comparison between groups(p<0.05). As for the result of the gait, only withingroup comparisons showed significant differences(p<0.05). Conclusion It was found that the exercise applied with wireless functional electrical stimulation was effective for functional recovery and improvement for children with cerebral palsy.
