Effects of Proprioceptive Enhancement Program on Postural Alignment,Dynamic Postural Control, and Gait in Chronic Stroke Patients: A Case Study

Abstract

Purpose This study aimed to determine how the proprioceptive enhancement program (PEP) helps postural alignment, dynamic postural control and gait in patients with chronic stroke. Methods As a case study, PEP was conducted on patient diagnosed with chronic stroke, and then 5 times sit to stand (5TSTS), 5 times foot stepper (5TFS), and time up and go (TUG) were compared. We looked into the differences in alignment between the supine and standing postures, and the differences sit to standing and putting one foot up on the stairs. Results: Effective results were shown in 5TSTS, 5TFS, and TUG before and after intervention, and differences were confirmed when comparing supine and standing postures. Results Effective results were shown in 5TSTS, 5TFS, and TUG before and after intervention, and differences were confirmed when comparing supine and standing postures. Conclusion It is believed that the PEP can help chronic stroke patients with postural alignment, sitting and standing movements, and walking.
